Thirsk Tips: Mayoman

A prolific winner, who has further improved thanks to a change in tactics.

With several front-runners in the field, the 5.45 Thirsk will be run at a blistering gallop. If the predicted pace-duel develops, the race will be set up for closers.

Haadeth, Whozthecat and Mayoman all enjoy coming off a strong pace and are similar prices. But if you look at their respective win rates on turf, there is only one choice.

Wins/Races on turf only:

Mayoman: 8/27
Whozthecat: 2/26
Haadeth: 1/15

Since David O’Meara changed tactics on Mayoman by racing more conservatively, his results are even better. He won on his seasonal reappearance at Musselburgh but then got stuck in the mud at Doncaster. That race can be ignored as no one made up ground from off the pace.

Odds of 12/1 (Coral) are simply too big for a horse in form with such a good strike rate.
