Thirsk Tips: Money Team

Thirsk Tips: Money Team

Has struggled to go the early pace over a sharp 5f but back up in trip and ran well over 6f during the winter.

Jockeys riding Money Team have visited the Stewards’ Office more often than the winner’s enclosure this season but in a rare outbreak of truth their explanations seem fair.

The ride Graham Gibbons gave Money Team at Thirsk last time was one that caught the eye. A never nearer seventh, he wasn’t thrashed about but his jockey explained he couldn’t go the early pace and could be suited by a stiff 5f or 6f.

That seems entirely logical. The race was run at a solid gallop and Money Team was finishing better the further the race went on, clocking the third fastest closing sectional. It was a similar story at Catterick.  He couldn’t go the early pace on a sharp 5f track but finished well with the sixth fastest closing sectional.

During the winter Money Team put in two fine performances over 6f at Chelmsford. Winning on the 3rd January and then finishing third behind the progressive Gentlemen in a fast time.

In the 3.25 Thirsk he returns to 6f, which might be his optimal trip nowadays. Knowing they are under the steward’s glare, expect connections to be going all out to get the best possible result.
