Thirsk Tips: Auxiliary

Thirsk Tips: Auxiliary

Back on better ground after labouring in soft conditions. Still retains the ability he showed for William Haggas.

Patrick Holmes doesn’t have many winners but Auxiliary will go in at a good price at some stage this season. A fair juvenile for William Haggas, it is a case of new connections finding the key to him. That certainly wasn’t soft ground at Catterick where he laboured to finish fifth.

In the 9.10 Thirsk he drops down in grade and returns to a sound surface, which should bring about at improvement. When faced with similar circumstances at Carlisle he produced an eye-catching effort.

Restrained in rear behind a steady pace, he was still travelling strongly turning for home but never got a clear run at the leaders. David Nolan wasn’t hard on him once the race had gone but he still clocked the fourth fastest closing sectional.

Cheek-pieces are back on and although blinkers are preferred (won twice in them) it is good to see some sort of headgear applied. At 14/1 we can afford to be wrong a few times before he wins.
