Thirsk Tips: Mon Brav

Slipped to an attractive mark despite running well. Drops into class 5 company for first time in three years.

Mon Brav starts the season off an 8lbs lower mark than last year but there has been no notable decline in his performances.

Mon Brav Racing Post Ratings over 6f in 2012

6f Thirsk – 88
6f Nottingham – 88
6f Newcastle – N/A (finished tailed off in heavy ground)
6f Pontefract – 67
6f Haydock – 76 (badly hampered lost at least 2 lengths, upgrade RPR to 82)

His no show at Newcastle can be ignored because of the awful ground and apart from a rare below par effort at Pontefract, Mon Brav was consistently capable of running to a mark in the 80s.

This afternoon he races off a mark of 75, but more importantly he race in a class 5 handicap limited to horses rated 0-75. This represents his easiest task in several years and from a good draw, he should go well at 7/1 (Paddy Power).
