Musselburgh Tips: Pavers Star
Well drawn, has the ideal running style for the track and won’t go down without a fight.
A low draw and good early pace is often a recipe for success at Musselburgh; one of the sharpest tracks around. Pavers Star has already shown ability at the track and looks a good bet to win the 3.45.
Unlike many of his peers at this grade, Pavers Star isn’t just a one-dimensional front-runner. On his last three starts, he’s showed tremendous battling qualities to finish inside the top-two. His trainer puts this down to the cheek-pieces, a recent addition to his races.
On his last start he pushed Imperial Legend all the way in a strongly run race. He went down by a neck to a horse rated 76, a full 20lbs higher than his current mark.
Pavers Star looks well handicapped and his ability to respond to pressure is a rare gift at this level, making him overpriced at 6/1 (Stan James).
