Musselburgh Tips: Hamish McGonagall
Big price considering he placed in two Group 1s last season and is 5/7 at the track.
I’m surprised to see Hamish McGonagall is 5/2 (William Hill) for the 3.00 Musselburgh. He might have plenty of weight to carry but he is comfortably the best horse in the race.
Last season he placed in two Group 1 races, finishing third in the Abbaye and the Nunthorpe, making him one of the best 5f sprinters in Europe.
Apart from Tangerine Trees, who seemed to lose the plot last season, the rest of the field are no more than handicappers.
With five wins from seven starts at Musselburgh, everything looks in his favour. I expect class will tell on the day.
