Hamish McGonagall enjoyed a superb 2011 and is a horse that seems to be improving with age. He placed in Group 1 company on his last two starts and should be too good for the minor conditions event at 2.45 Musselburgh.
He is seen at his best on sharp tracks and has a superb record at the venue, with four wins from six visits. None of his rivals look capable of causing a shock; age and injury seem to have caught up with dual Nunthorpe winner Borderlescott.
Hamish McGonagall won this race last year by two lengths and he looks a good bet to repeat the feat. The 85/40 (BetVictor) available looks generous considering he returned 11/10 twelve months ago.
