Musselburgh Tips: Crimea

Best backed when fresh and ran well in a higher grade last year.

Crimea (2.50 Musselburgh) only made it to the track three times last year, but performed with distinction. On his first start of 2011, he finished a close 4th in a class 3 handicap at Doncaster. He followed that up with an equally close 6th at Epsom in a class 2 contest. Both times he clocked a very good speed rating.

Lightly raced for a six-year-old, he must be difficult to train or keep sound, but often these horses are at their best when fresh. He hails from the excellent Dandy Nicholls yard and if he can repeat the form he showed last year he should go close. At 5/1 (William Hill) he rates a good bet.
