Lingfield Horse Tips: Dead Cool

Exchanged hands for 38,000 guineas, suggesting she might be better than this grade.

In moderate sprint handicaps the horses take turns beating each other, especially if they are fully exposed. The 2.10 at Lingfield brings together all the usual suspects but there is one interesting horse - Dead Cool.

Having only her tenth start, there is scope for this four-year-old to improve as she gets older but it is her sales details that really catch the eye. On the 1st December 2011 she was purchased for 38,000 guineas (almost the equivalent value in pounds stirling).  Why would someone spend that amount of money on a moderate horse?

Dead Cool has since switched stables to Robert Cowell and is now owned by Khalifa Dasmal, whose colours were carried to glory by Dream Ahead in 2011. He is not the sort of man to go wasting his money.

This well-bred filly looks a good purchase on her pedigree but surely for that outlay you expect her to be a bit better than a 66 rated horse. It is interesting to see she is entered in three races over the next seven days. Sometimes this is a sign the yard are confident they can rack up a quick set of victories and want to run the horse with a penalty.

Dead Cool’s form might only be reasonable but movement behind the scenes suggest a great deal more is expected. I’m happy to take that risk at 10/1 with Boylesports.
