Beverley Tips: Mercers Row
Left behind the problems that blighted his 2011 campaign. Impressive winner last time out and will enjoy this stiffer track.
Mercers Row has suffered with injury in recent years, racing only twice in 2011. But now, back to full fitness he looks a useful horse.
He started his turf campaign by chasing home the progressive Boucher Garcon at Musselburgh. The winner is now 19lbs higher in the handicap, so it was a good performance.
He followed up with an impressive win over the same course and distance. Held up in the rear, his jockey had to switch several times for a clear run before powering home to win by half a length.
Mercers Row’s running style should be suited to Beverley’s stiff track; he won his maiden here in 2010. Free from injury he can continue his progression by winning the 3.00 race.
