Beverley Tips: Almond Branches
Got her favoured firm ground and races in a class 5 contest despite having already won in a higher grade this summer.
I tipped Almond Branches to win at Doncaster last week but she was taken out of the race because of the rain-softened ground. With the going today registered as good to firm, firm in places, we can be confident she will enjoy the conditions.
Racing in a class 5 contest, this is actually a drop in grade from Doncaster yet she is still a big price. A lot of that will have to do with a poor draw, but she is usually held-up in her races, which negates some of the bias.
Dropped back to 5f this season, she’s looked useful, winning a class 4 handicap by five lengths in July and backing that up with two 3rd place finishes in good handicaps.
On her last start on good to firm she finished 1.5 lengths behind Waseem Faris. That horse races in a 0-100 handicap at Yarmouth today whereas Almond Branches races in a 0-75 handicap.
At 10/1 (William Hill) I’d be surprised if she wasn’t good enough to overcome a wide draw and win the 3.40 Beverley.
