Beverley Racing Tip: Breathless Kiss

Breathless Kiss

Improved out of site for the drop back to five furlong and fitting of blinkers.

The 3.10 at Beverley is a cracking sprint handicap with a big field and plenty of value. Being a right handed track, it will have its stalls reversed for the first time, with low numbers being drawn on the inside. Traditionally Beverley had a strong stall bias towards the high numbered stalls, now low stalls will be favoured.

In general being drawn in stall ten or wider is a big negative but fortunately, our selection sneaks into stall nine. Breathless Kiss put in one of the performances of the winter when she routed a decent field on the 12th February. She won the race by 4.5 lengths but was hardly extended.

Always a fair handicapper, the horse seems to have improved dramatically recently. I put that down to a combination of blinkers and a drop back to five furlongs. She has won her last two starts under those conditions.

Her trainer obviously holds her in high regard, as Kevin Ryan deemed her good enough to run in a listed race at Lingfield. Things did not go her way in that race, it was run at a slow pace over six furlongs, she needs a fast run five, so we can safely ignore the form.

Stable jockey Phillip Makin has chosen her over Arganil, suggesting she is the stable’s first string. All the signs are good and at 16/1 she is worth a punt.
