Sony Open Golf Tips: Brian Gay
Finished only three shots behind the winner last year and one of the best putters on tour.
A three-time winner on tour, Brian Gay’s opportunities to add to his tally is limited by his lack of length off the tee. Ranked 176th for driving distance there are some tournaments he simply cannot compete at, fortunately the Sony Open isn’t one of them.
In the last five years here, Brian Gay has finished no worse than 40th, a run that reads: T40-T5-T25-T13-T6.
One of the best putters on tour, the 41-year-old American seems to excel on the greens of Waialae Country Club. If he is to make an impact this season his best chance is probably this week. At 45/1 (Paddy Power) he is a good each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
