Everton v Oldham Tip

The Merseysiders have only won by more than a single goal once since September.

The bookies are so sure that Everton are going to waltz past Oldham on Tuesday night that Skybet are now offering just 11/10 on Moyes’ boys winning by three goals or more. I think it could be a lot closer than that with the value option being the hosts to edge through by one goal at best odds of 4/1 with Ladbrokes.

Oldham may have missed their best opportunity to progress by drawing at Boundary Park but don’t expect them to go down without a fight at Goodison. Caretaker boss Tony Philliskirk has instigated a revival with three league wins on the bounce lifting Athletic four points clear of the relegation zone in League One.

Meanwhile the Toffees are going through the proverbial sticky patch after a winless run of four matches in February. The 2-1 defeat at Norwich on Saturday will have been particularly hard to take having led with six minutes remaining.

Moyes’s disappointment at the final whistle was very evident as he saw his team’s Champions League hopes all but fade away. However, the FA Cup still represents a great opportunity to make this a significant season for the Blues and I can’t see them slipping up here. It could be close though, so we may still make decent money while still backing the favourites.
