Everton v Newcastle Tip

Ben Arfa scored a wonder goal last time out.

In what should be a tight match we can get better than evens money by delving back into the double chance market.

With home advantage and a decent run of form, I fully expected Everton to be favourites for Monday night’s televised clash. However, at best odds of 4/5 (Ladbrokes) their price is too short and it’s remarkable that Newcastle are better value to win OR draw. The draw/away option looks like a giveaway in the double chance market at best odds of 11/10 with WilliamHill.

Let’s not forget that the Toffees finished a comfortable nine points behind the Toon Army in 2011-12; the visitors were undeniably the superior team over the full 38 matches. Furthermore, Pardew’s men had an away record that compared favourably with any side outside of the top two.

Newcastle won at Chelsea in May and drew at Old Trafford before that. There were also away victories at tough venues such as Swansea, Sunderland, Stoke and WBA. With the likes of Papiss Cisse, Demba Ba and Hatem Ben Arfa, they will always carry a significant threat on the counter-attack.
