York Dante Stakes Betting Odds

The top three in the ante post Derby betting line up at York. It is a race that should go a long way in sorting out the main protagonists for Epsom.

In 2007 Authorized took the Dante on the way to success in the Derby and this year’s renewal should be a good pointer for the classic.

We run through the runners in card order:

1. Ashva: 150/1
Finished fourth in a class 3 handicap this season, will not threaten the leaders and here just to pick up the prize money.
Derby odds: n/a

2. Carlton House: 5/2
Mightily impressive when winning a Newbury maiden by nine lengths last year. The form of that race has not worked out particularly well, with Yaseer well held in second. This will tell us how good he is.
Derby odds: 5/1

3. Pisco Sour: 50/1
Second behind Fury in a big Newmarket sales race, he then flopped when almost tailed off at Saint Cloud on his last start as a two year old. Ability is there but perhaps not up to this class. Step up in distance also an unknown.
Derby odds: 100/1

4. Seville: 15/8
Runner up behind Casamento in the Racing Post trophy the pick of his form. The step up in trip will suit him and he won the same Tipperary maiden as High Chaparral. Remains to be seen if he is as good as his illustrious predecessor but no surprise if he won.
Derby odds: 8/1

5. World Domination: 11/4
Won a competitive Newbury maiden on his debut this season. Travelled in that race like a good thing but this is a big step up in class. He could be a smart prospect but the odds are based more on his potential than his achievements.
Derby odds: 9/2

6. Yaseer: 16/1
Third in the Craven when outpaced, suggesting the step up in trip will see him to better effect. Well behind Carlton House on his juvenile form though and probably a minor placing the best he can hope for.
Derby odds: 50/1

Conclusion

As the betting suggests this is a three horse race and will prove very informative for the Epsom Derby betting. On the form book Seville holds the strongest credentials but you write off Carlton House and World Domination at your peril. Despite winning relatively weak races, they were very impressive and could be anything.
