Epsom Tips: El Astronaute
After a series of bad draws he’s finally bagged a good one and has the early pace to exploit it.
El Astronaute hasn’t had much luck with the draw the season but stall 9 is perfect for Epsom’s 5f track and the small field should mean there is less pace pressure than normal.
Last time out he did extremely well to finish a close fourth at York, starting in stall 14 he raced away from the main pack and had to contend with the low stalls draw bias that has appeared on the straight track this season.
Before that he finished tenth, beaten 3.5 lengths again from a moderate draw this time at Goodwood and the time before he stood no chance from gate 17 at York.
In the face of some bad luck, he runs some good speed ratings, especially at Ayr when he tried to make all at an overly strong pace.
It’s encouraging to see Silvestre De Sousa on board, his record on the horse is 220 and has never been beaten by more than 3.5 lengths and on a sharp 5f he has the early pace to make all.
