Yarmouth Tips: Waseem Faris

Yarmouth Tips: Waseem Faris

Excels over intermediate sprint distances and this more to his liking after he found Epsom’s 5f too sharp.

Waseem Faris might be 7-years-old but he is better than ever and having spent most of the season racing in class 2/3 handicaps he can take advantage of the slight drop in grade in the 5.20 Yarmouth.

Joseph Tuite’s sprinter is slightly peculiar because he doesn’t have the raw speed for 5f nor the stamina for 6f but excels anywhere in between. His record over distances between 5f42y and 5f161y is four wins and two places from seven starts.

This afternoon he races over 5f42y and the extra few yards could make a massive difference. Last time out he was beaten a length at Epsom over the sharpest 5f in the country but Yarmouth’s stiffer track in much more to his liking.

His last two speed ratings have been in the 80s, which suggests his mark of 85 isn’t insurmountable especially with Josephine Gordon taking off a valuable 3lbs.
