Windsor Tips: Bathwick Bear

Races off a career low mark and shaped well last time out; posted wide and got into a pace-duel.

Bathwick Bear has been threatening to win a good race all year and off a career low mark, I’m hoping he can oblige in the 3.35 Windsor.

Last time out at Chester he finished a decent fourth, racing from a wide draw and getting into a prolonged pace battle. He eventually outlasted the pacesetters, finishing 4.25 lengths ahead of Key Ambition. Parisian Pyramid, the other front-runner, was tailed off.

Back in May, Bathwick Bear ran his best race of the year over course and distance. Although that was on good to firm ground, he handles a soft surface. Today’s class 4 contest is two grades below his usual level, making him an attractive bet at 16/1 (Stan James).
