Chelmsford Tips: Kowaiyess
Impressed on debut when running a quick sectional and fast overall time. Turned over when a short price at Bath but can bounce back.
The 5.50 Chelmsford isn’t a particularly strong maiden and Kowaiyess should win if repeating either of his runs from last year.
He created a very good impression on debut at Kempton behind Mr Black. Held up in rear of a steadily run race, he took off in the final 3f running the fastest closing sectional by 0.54s. When adjusting for pace, he earned an impressive speed rating of 84 and was the red-hot favourite for a Bath maiden.
It was a race he looked like winning for a long way but got worn down in the final 100 yards, perhaps not enjoying the stiff finish or just idling with inexperience. Either way it wasn’t a bad run and the speed rating was fair. He is a horse of some ability and with nothing of note in opposition he should win.
