Bath Tips: Kowaiyess
Clocked impressive 34.19s closing sectional on debut at Kempton despite a slow start. Fastest at the meet by 0.54s and in the top 1.25% at the track.
Kowaiyess was given a gentle introduction to racing at Kempton last month but a sharp 5f run at a true gallop probably caught him unawares.
Slowly into stride, he looked green on debut but once he got the hang of things he motored home. After a couple of smacks from Paul Hanagan he took off and covered the final 3f in a rapid 34.19s. It was the fastest closing sectional on the card by 0.54s and the 49th fastest at the track from the last 3,912 runners.
His closing sectional puts him in the top 1.25% of runners at the track and encouragingly this wasn’t just because of a steady pace. His finishing speed was 105.8% of his average race speed and earned an impressive adjusted speed rating of 84.
Hamdan Al Maktoum has a 33% strike rate (5-15) with his two-year-olds at Bath and Kowaiyess is a full brother to Burwaaz who won on his second start for connections and placed in Group company as a juvenile.
