Van Huysen To Continue Progressing
Van Huysen has improved for his new trainer and ran a career best in defeat last time.
Van Huysen is having his fourth start for Dominic Ffrench Davis in the 8.40 Chelmsford and he seems to have improved for the switch in trainer and a five-month break.
In three races this winter he’s been beaten 1.75-1.25-0.25 lengths and it won’t take much until he is in the winner’s enclosure again.
His most impressive performance was his most recent when second behind The Tichborne. The winner enjoyed the advantage of a soft lead and the steady pace meant Van Huysen couldn’t quite bridge the gap.
In defeat he earned an adjusted speed rating of 85, which is mightily impressive for a horse rated 75. The handicapper left his mark unchanged, which means he can race in the same grade this evening.
The step down is the only a slight concern but at 13/2 (William Hill) he looks a sound bet.
