Straboe the best bet at Lingfield

Trainer Stuart Williams is on a hot streak and we fancy him to bag another winner at his favourite track

Straboe was a horse going places last year and I expect him to recapture his form in the 3.05 at Lingfield on Saturday. With the likes of Thoughtsofstardom, Towyboy and Triple Dream in the field we are guaranteed a strong pace which suits those coming behind or off the pace.

The grand old veteran Fromsong showed he still retains his sparkle with an excellent second last time out over course and distance. He deserves extra credit as he was hampered on the bend but I doubt that stopped him beating Stratton Banker. He should run well again but he is vulnerable to a lesser exposed type and the Williams yard can supply that type of horse again.

Straboe was a horse going places last year and recorded two facile wins over 5f at Wolverhampton in the spring, granted those were in a lower grade but he outclassed them. A light summer campaign followed before he returned with a strong run at the end of November, again at Wolverhampton. He finished 7th that day but wasn’t beaten far, more importantly he was also the only horse to make any headway from off the pace at a time when all Wolverhampton sprints were biased towards front running types.

At a track that favours closers and with pace to aim at,  the race should be run to suit.
