Saved My Bacon At Chelmsford
Lost race at start when blindfold removed late but almost salvaged the situation by running an impressive closing sectional.
Last time out Saved My Bacon ran a huge race in defeat and with better luck she should be up to winning the 7.10 Chelmsford.
Fifteen days ago everything went wrong at the start. Silvestre De Sousa struggled to remove the blindfold in time resulting in jockey and horse being 8 lengths in arrears by the end of the first furlong.
Over the minimum trip, one that is on the sharp side for the horse, this was a complete disaster.
To their credit horse and jockey kept going and despite not enjoying a clear passage, Saved My Bacon clocked a rapid 33.51s closing sectional but that wasn’t enough to catch Bosham who bossed the race from the front.
Saved My Bacon clocked an impressive sectional adjusted speed rating of 74 and back up in trip she can add to her two course and distance victories at 3/1 (Bet365).
