Sandown Tips: Von Blucher
Incredibly well-handicapped on his Lingfield win, where he earned an adjusted speed rating of 103. Has also run well on turf and at Sandown.
Von Blucher has to be one of the best handicapped horses in training and although the Esher Cup (1.20 Sandown) is a competitive event he is far superior to his official rating of 86.
When he last raced at Lingfield he showed a tremendous turn of foot to cover the final 2f in a rapid 21.77s earning a whopping adjusted speed rating of 103. Behind him that day was Ennaadd who subsequently won his next three starts and is now rated over 100.
It is important to note that Von Blucher isn’t just an all-weather monster. He ran three times on turf last season placing at Sandown and on heavy ground at Epsom.
He is with a terrific trainer in John Gosden and having proven he handles the track and the going he must rate an excellent bet at 9/4 (William Hill).
