Royal Ascot Tips: So You Think

On ratings, nothing in the field has bettered his performances on turf since he arrived in Europe last season.

After arriving from Australia with such a huge reputation there was only one way So You Think could go. He was never able to live up to the hype but with three Group 1 wins in 2011, it’s seems harsh to suggest he was disappointing.

Having started 4/11 for the race last year, the bookmakers are taking a risk pricing him up at evens (William Hill). Looking purely at the form, he has an outstanding chance. Since joining Aiden O’Brien his Racing Post Ratings (RPR) on turf have been: 128-127-129-129-128-125-128-127.

Twice, he dropped below a rating of 125 but both were excusable. One race was on dirt at the Breeders Cup the other on the polytrack at Meydan. Quite simply he is a better horse on turf.

As for his rivals, it doesn’t look like anything can match him. Carlton House peaked at 121 in the Derby, Planteur has never topped 124 in 16 starts and only Farhh looks progressive enough to improve on his best RPR of 118.

So You Think won’t have to do anything out of the ordinary to win the 3.45 Royal Ascot and at evens (William Hill) he looks a good bet.
