Royal Ascot Tips: Colour Vision

Got close to Fame And Glory in October and looked much improved when a comfortable Group 2 winner on his last start.

Fame And Glory bids to repeat his victory in the 3.45 Ascot Gold Cup but I’m not convinced he will have things his own way. The field looks stronger than 12 months ago with the two improving four-year-olds the big danger.

Saddler’s Rock beat Opinion Poll by four lengths in the Doncaster Cup and a similar performance gives him a chance, but Colour Vision is the one that really grabs my interest.

On his first start for Godolphin he broke the course record when finishing 1.5 lengths ahead of Red Cadeaux; a high level of form considering Red Cadeaux was runner-up in the Melbourne Cup. The way he powered clear in the last furlong was mightily impressive.

Last season he got to within 1.25 lengths of Fame And Glory in the Champions Long Distance Cup, catching him with every stride. A year older, he can follow in the footsteps of horses like Monterosso and make the step-up up in grade after switching from Mark Johnston to Godolphin.

With Bodog refunding losing bets if your selection finishes second to the SP favourite, (max. refund £25) at 5/1 he is a cracking each-way bet.

With ¼ odds for a top-three finish, we are guaranteed a small profit if Colour Vision places, with a further upside if he wins or finishes second to Fame And Glory.
