Queen Anne Betting Preview

We preview the runners in the 2.30 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, with Frankel looking to maintain his 100% record.

With Frankel looking for his 11th win in a row and 1/5 (Boylesports) in the betting, the Queen Anne Stakes (2.30 Ascot) holds limited appeal from a punting perspective. Rated the best horse in the world, it makes sense just to savour the greatness.

Excelebration has chased Frankel home four times in his career. If it wasn’t for his nemesis, Aiden O’Brien’s four-year-old would have won 9 of his 11 starts. Excelebration is a best price 6/1 (Paddy Power) to spring a surprise.

A more sensible bet is to take the 5/1 with Bodog. Throughout Royal Ascot’s five-day festival Bodog are refunding losing bets, up to £25, if your selection finishes second to the SP favourite.

Frankel is 1/2 (Coral) to win by 3 lengths or more, a margin of victory he has achieved in 70% of his races. The closest he came to defeat was at Ascot last year and with bigger targets later in the season, victory by under 3.5 lengths might be value at 13/8 with Boylesports.
