Pontefract Tips: Nasri
Has ideal conditions and went close in some top handicaps last year.
The 3.15 Pontefract is a high quality sprint handicap, the sort of race to look forward to this summer. The big field creates plenty of betting opportunities, and after several near misses, Nasri can get back on the score sheet.
A recent convert to sprinting, he was desperately unlucky to finish fourth in the Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood last season. He fared best of the horses drawn high and a better draw would have seen him go close to winning.
The best speed rating he earned in 2011 was actually in a moderate conditions event at Hamilton. The combination of a stiff track and soft ground played to his strengths and he should enjoy similar conditions today.
He ran well on his seasonal reappearance at Doncaster and should be spot on for today’s race at 8/1 with Bet365.
