Pontefract Tips: Taffetta
Ran well in heavy ground at Redcar earlier in the season and will be suited by the stiffer track.
Soft ground is still the default setting around British racetracks at the moment and the fact Taffetta is proven on heavy ground could see her triumph in the 4.45 Pontefract.
On her penultimate start she was only beating 0.5 lengths in heavy conditions at Redcar and a return to a stiff track will play to her strengths. Last season she often hit a flat spot in races over the minimum trip therefore the soft ground and uphill finish should bring her stamina into play.
Her record at Pontefract is 433 whilst she has also won at Beverley a similarly stiff track. Well drawn in stall 1 and off a reasonable handicap mark she should go close at 4/1 (William Hill).
