Pontefract Tips: My Sharona
A cosy winner on her last start at 6f; suggesting there is more to come.
There are several interesting runners in the 4.00 Pontefract, including Misplaced Fortune who went close for us at a big price last week. Unfortunately, she has paid the penalty and after being available at 25/1 seven days ago, she is 4/1 for a similar contest.
There are several improving three-year-olds in the field and they look the biggest dangers with My Sharona the standout horse.
Two starts ago she was an easy winner of a class 3, 6f handicap at Goodwood but when upped in grade and trip she ran a bit flat at Salisbury. I’m not convinced a strongly run 7f suits her, she also stumbled badly leaving the gates, which can’t have helped either.
I am willing to forgive her last run and focus on the big impression she made at Goodwood. At 5/1 BetVictor she could be a useful sprinter in the making.
