Pontefract Tips: Commanche Raider
Finished in the top two in both his 5f starts this year and loves the track.
The 4.30 Pontefract has a false favourite in Sunny Side Up. She beat very moderate opposition when winning at Ayr and her second place finish at Thirsk needs downgrading as she raced on the best side of the track.
With the favourite accounted for there is plenty of value elsewhere and Commanche Raider catches the eye at 15/2 (Betfred).
He finished a close 4th in this race last year when chasing too strong a pace and returns in much better form. He has raced twice at 5f this season, finishing first and second. His win came over course and distance and he was a runner-up in a higher grade behind the useful Head Space.
He’s got ideal conditions today, plenty of pace to aim at and his form is the strongest in the field. At 15/2 (Betfred) he is the best bet by some distance.
