Nottingham Tips: First In Command

Has an excellent record on soft ground/fibresand and ran well three starts back.

First In Command ran a bit of a clunker on his last start, beaten 8.75 lengths at Wolverhampton, but I am generally happy to forgive one bad performance if it leads to a big price.

The 8-year-old has run enough good races this season to warrant keeping the faith. Three starts back he finished third in a good race at Yarmouth and earlier in the season he was only beaten 3.75 lengths by Steps, a horse now rated 106.

The key to First In Command is the ground as all his best performances have come with cut or on the deeper fibresand surface.

5f record on ground rated slower than good or fibresand: 0321112221224139

In recent times his only ‘poor’ result was a ninth place finish at Yarmouth when contesting a class 2 handicap having run 24 hours earlier.

At 33/1 (Sportingbet) he’s got decent each-way claims but I want to make the most of my edge so I’m sticking with a win only bet.
