Nottingham Tips: Noble Storm
A high draw has proven advantageous over sprint trips at this meeting and Noble Storm has the early pace to grab the stand’s rail.
At the age of 10 there aren’t many opportunities left for Noble Storm to add to his tally but he’s running well and slipped to a mark he can win off.
Last time out at Newcastle he set a gallop he was unable to sustain and faded in the final 50 yards. It was a similar story three starts back at Doncaster when he ran out of puff (finishing speed 94.9%) having set an overly strong pace.
In between he ran well at Leicester when badly drawn and finally things may have fallen right in the 4.20 Nottingham.
This end of season sprint has been a fixture at Nottingham since 2013 and with the stalls against the nearside rail it has favoured those drawn high. Over the past three years those drawn in the 8 highest stalls have beaten 57.4% of rivals, with par being 50% it is advantage to be drawn high.
Noble Storm is two off the rail in stall 11 and with his usual early pace combined with first time cheek-pieces I expect a bold bid from the front. The going is on the borderline of being acceptable but it’s worth the risk at the price.
