Newmarket Tips: Swiss Cross

Ran a good race at Epsom two starts back despite suffering bad interference and racing over a trip that is too short for him.

In his last couple of turf starts Swiss Cross has hinted at a return to the sort of form that saw his mark shoot into the 100s on the all-weather this winter. Racing off a turf mark of 90 he looks well handicapped and could spring a surprise in the 3.10 Newmarket.

Two starts ago he ran a fine race at Epsom, finishing a close fourth after getting wiped out in the first 100 yards. The way he stayed on at the finish suggested a return to 6f would be ideal.

At his best on sharp 6f tracks, he should enjoy himself at Newmarket on quick ground. He has a competent apprentice on board and looks overpriced.
