Muhdiq Due A Change In Fortune

Endured a luckless campaign on turf but won his last two starts on the all-weather.

Muhdiq has been sat in my notebook for a long time but finally we have a chance to back him in the 4.30 Wolverhampton.

Mick Murphy’s sprinter first caught my eye back in May, when he finished second of the stand’s side group at Ascot but only 11th overall. The margin of defeat was exacerbated by a big draw bias as the far side dominated the finish that day.

That race has been a good source of winners, with Pettochside (13th at Ascot, drawn stand’s side) subsequently winning at Kempton – a horse we highlighted at 12/1.

Having only his 12th start, Muhdiq is relatively unexposed for a sprinter and the all-weather seems to be his best surface, having won his last two starts on polytrack.

After a luckless turf campaign he looks well treated off a mark of 80 and is the day’s best bet at 9/2 (Boylesports).
