Kempton Tips: Pettochside

Off the track for 120 days and the bookmakers have forgotten how unlucky he's been.

Pettochside returns to the track for the first time in 120 days but the market has forgotten how unlucky he has been.

Two starts back at Ascot he ran against a strong draw bias that I estimated had an impact of at least 11lbs. He finished third of the high drawn horses that day.

Next time out at Chepstow it was a similar story, the race developed up the nearside rail but he was posted wide because of his low draw and never featured.

I think there is plenty of untapped potential with this horse. He won at Epsom at the end of his 3-year-old career in a decent time for the grade and the jockey that day – David Probert is back on board.

Although not an all-weather regular Pettochside has won at Wolverhampton and given his trainer’s excellent record at Kempton he is overpriced at 12/1 (Boylesports).
