Lingfield Tips: The Wee Chief

Much better than the bare form, making significant headway in a slowly run race at Windsor. Rare foray into class 6 company - won last time he ran in this grade.

The Wee Chief went into my notebook three starts back and we can capitalise in the 4.20 Lingfield.

On the face of it his 6th place finish at Windsor, beaten 5.25 lengths, was ordinary but his run deserves a big upgrade because he came from last in a slowly run race.

My sectional timings suggest the first 4f of the race were run extremely slowly making it almost impossible to make up significant ground from behind. The only other horse to improve his position was Jinker Noble who has since placed on his next three starts, latterly in class 4 handicaps.

Thanks to his declining mark, The Wee Chief gets to race in a class 6 handicap and the last time he was in this grade he won, coincidentally around Lingfield.

We are going into the unknown with a step up in trip but I think his class should see him through and armed with the knowledge that his form is better than the bare results he is a cracking bet at 12/1 (Paddy Power).
