Lingfield Tips: Super Frank

A seven-time course winner; he faces horses that struggle to win anywhere.

The bookmakers have a strange opinion of the 2.25 Lingfield, they think horses that struggle to win are going to have a miraculous change of fortune.

In low grade racing attitude counts for a lot, especially when ability is in short supply. Miakora, Suhayl Star, Metropolitan Chief, Bobbyow, Pharoh Jake and Gorgeous Goblin have a paltry 7 wins between them, from 184 races, a strike rate of 3.8%.

Even the younger horses look exposed and I wouldn’t be rushing to back any of them. Quite quickly that narrows the field down to four. Raimond Ridge is in poor form and Avonvalley is better at five furlongs so they are passed over. That leaves Do More Business and Super Frank as the only realistic betting propositions, and the latter is the value.

Super Frank has been running consistently well in a better grade this winter. Two runs ago he finished 2.5 lengths behind Drawnfromthepast, a horse rated 85. Although that was a claimer full of badly handicapped horses, it was still a good performance. A three length defeat to Efistorm in December also reads well as it was achieved in a 0-65 handicap, today he races in a 0-52 contest.

A seven-time winner at Lingfield, this is exactly the sort of race Super Frank wins, at 7/1 (Boylesports) in the betting he is cracking value.
