Lingfield Horse Racing Tips: Super Frank

The 2.40 at Lingfield is a very low-grade sprint handicap with a bunch of very infrequent winners. As we proved last week with Steel City Boy, at this level any horse that has displayed an appetite for winning must be considered. That leaves us with one standout candidate:

Super Frank: 11 wins from 73 starts = 15% strike rate
Rest combined: 16 wins from 207 starts = 7.7% strike rate

Although grouping the entire field together isn’t a practice I would normally advise, it serves to illustrate the point that Super Frank knows how to win with regularity; something you cannot say about the others.

Considering Super Frank has a record of 7-24 at Lingfield I’m surprised the bookmakers have let him get as big as 14/1 (Ladbrokes). His current form certainly has something to do with this. Last time out he virtually refused to race but I’m willing to forgive him this mistake as something seemed to get caught in the stalls. It was the first time he has done anything like that in 73 starts; he isn’t a rogue character.

The race before he shaped with promise after losing by only three lengths at his beloved Lingfield. After that race trainer Zoe Davison commented on her website, “Super Frank ran his best race in a while, and he looks to be slowly coming back to winning form. Watch this space.”

I’m happy to trust her opinion as that is how I read the form. If he recaptures any of his old sparkle then he will be far too good.
