Lingfield Tips: Sulis Minerva
Much improved since a breathing operation. Easy winner last time and more to come.
Considering the ease with which she won her last race, I’m surprised Sulis Minerva is as big as 4/1 (Betfred) for the 1.55 at Lingfield.
It was her third run back after a break and she had been building towards a smart performance, duly delivered on New Year’s Eve. A breathing operation in the autumn has clearly been the source of this improvement.
The way she travelled through her last race, she looked much better than her moderate rivals. She seemed only to canter, yet pulled away by three lengths in the home straight before being eased down. Jockey Raul Da Silva never got to work on his mount so we must assume there is plenty left in the locker.
The handicapper raised her 6lbs for that facile victory but I doubt she is anywhere near her true mark. In an exposed line-up, she is the outstanding bet.
