Lingfield Tips: Showboating
Unlucky not to win seven days ago. Has more pace to aim at this time round.
Showboating was an unlucky loser when tipped seven days ago. In an almost identical race I’m happy to give him a second chance at 4/1 (Blue Square) in the 2.25 at Lingfield.
After falling out the stalls last week, Showboating was stuck racing wide and towards the back of the field. The worst position in a slowly run race. When the tempo increased in the home straight, he was too far back. Despite coming with a withering run the best he could finish was third.
The draw hasn’t been especially kind, with stall 11 wider than ideal but more importantly there is pace in this race. Horses like Ice Trooper and Punching are likely to force a strong gallop setting up the race for those coming from off the pace.
Jockey Nora Looby has proved herself adept at riding hold up horses and provided one of the rides of the week on Desert Strike, tactically a very similar horse to Showboating. Let’s hope our money was only lent to the bookmakers.
