Lingfield Tips: Ring For Baileys

Impressive 3-length winner when pulling away from the pack having gone a good early gallop.

Don’t blink otherwise you could miss the 3.00 Lingfield. With Island Legend, Rylee Mooch and Royal Bajan in the field, the race should be run at a fearsome gallop, setting the race up for a more conservatively ridden horse.

Alaskan Bullet heads the market after his 5-length romp but the winning distance flattered him. It was a most bizarre race as the leader went off far too quick, but so did the chasing pack. It meant there was a huge pace collapse which exacerbated the finishing distances.

I was more impressed by Ring For Baileys’ recent 3-length victory. It was achieved by quickening off a solid gallop, which is much harder to do. She’s shot up the handicap as a result but she was competitive in class 4 handicaps during the summer.

Well drawn in stall 2, if Joe Fanning rides her patiently (she doesn’t have to lead), she can pick off the tiring leaders in the home straight. At 6/1 (Betfred) she is the value in the race.
