Lingfield Tips: Rakaan
Was rated 85 this time last year and the manner of his victory 24 days ago suggests he retains plenty of ability.
The 12.50 Lingfield features two horses trying to recapture past glories in the shape of Classic Colori and Rakaan however, the market has them the wrong way round.
Classic Colori was a 3.5 length winner on his last start but he was flattered by the margin of victory as he picked off the leaders following a pace collapse.
Rakaan earned his 2-length victory the hard way. He had to pass almost the entire field with the leaders quickening for home; the finishing speed was 107% of the overall speed.
Rakaan showed a tremendous turn of foot to close in 22.93s, improving his course and distance record to 151.
This time last year he was rated 85 and racing in class 3/4 handicaps; he might have regressed slightly but is still capable of taking a class 6 claimer at 3/1 (Betfred).
