Lingfield Tips: Picansort

The 2.30 at Lingfield is a very tightly matched contest, where small margins can mean the difference between winning and losing. If Picansort can return to the form he showed three outings ago he must have a decent chance.

In mid-December Picansort looked the most unlucky of losers when severely hampered in the home straight. He has struggled to recreate that form at six furlongs since, but there were possible excuses.

Last time out he was travelling much the best of the field but his jockey opted to make his run up the far rail, often the slowest part of the track at Lingfield. He finished 4.5 lengths behind the winner but would have been closer if it wasn’t for the track bias.

My one concern is he might be better at five furlongs, but Peter Crate’s charge has won at six and in a higher grade. He has the ability if things fall right, and at 15/2 (BetVictor) he is worth the risk
