Lingfield Tips: Norville

Has been rapidly progressive this year with six wins. Last run can be ignored as it was his first run in almost three months.

The 2.50 at Lingfield is a good quality all-weather sprint and a real treat for a midweek meeting.  Considering the reliability associated with better horses, it is odd how badly the market has misjudged the field.

Only three of today’s horses have ever won a class two sprint: Elna Bright, Dozy Joe and Norville - everyone else will need a career best performance to win this. The younger horses don’t seem capable of that jump in class and the rest are fully exposed leading me towards the proven class two performer – Norville.

At 20/1 (Boylesports) you must be thinking there is a catch. Last time out he ran no sort of race, which is what makes the price, however he had excuses that day. He helped force an overly strong pace where all three of the leaders finished in the last three places.

It was also his first run in 75 days, the longest break this horse has ever had. Norville really thrives on his racing and I expect him to improve plenty for that outing. David Evans has a really hardy sprinter on his hands who has won six times already this year. Three have come over course and distance and at 20/1 (Boylesports) the odds are too high on this proven performer.
