Lingfield Tips: Mother Jones
In sparkling form and has a talented young apprentice on board.
There are two big positives for Mother Jones in the 3.40 Lingfield. Firstly, she is in cracking form and secondly she has an excellent young apprentice on board.
Looking at the form, her last two performances have been career bests. She won a class 5 handicap at Wolverhampton by two lengths, but the way she was pulling away she was value for more. However, what really impressed me was her defeat in a class 4 handicap at Lingfield.
Up in grade, she acquitted herself well over a 5f trip that was on the sharp side for her. She finished strongly from off the pace in a contest that suited front-runners and her 3.25 length of defeat would have been much less but for bad interference in the home straight.
Apprentice jockey Eoin Walsh looks good value for his 7lbs claim and is rated very highly by his trainer David Evans. He’s won 3 of his 11 races and seems a good judge of pace as well as a tidy rider.
At 17/2 (BetVictor) Mother Jones looks overpriced with two big positives in her favour.
