Lingfield Tips: Jimmy Ryan

Under-estimated because of his age; he is lightly raced and has won his last two races over course and distance.

I’d be tempted to suggest the market for the 4.00 at Lingfield is slightly ageist. Jimmy Ryan has won his last two races over course and distance and demolished a similar field only a week ago. He should be close to even money but on account of his age, he is 11-years-old, he is 7/2 (Paddy Power) in the betting.

Considering his age, it is strange to think he is actually one of the lightest raced horses in the line up. Once rated as high as 96, he was away from the track for over four years between 2005 and 2009. Injury was to blame, he has endured issues with his legs and his breathing.

The good news is he is back racing again and in fine shape. Last week he proved far too strong for class six rivals as he powered away for a 2.25 length victory. He recorded a speed rating far in excess of his official mark and a repeat of that run will see him win comfortably again.
