Lingfield Tips: Hoodna

Is 2/2 on the all-weather and is overpriced in a contest where many of her rivals won’t be suited by the track.

The 3.10 Lingfield has plenty of good horses in it; the problem is that not many of them have produced their best on the all-weather, around the bend or on a sharp 6f trap.

Hawkeyethenoo for instance is an excellent sprinter but he needs to be held up off a strong pace on a straight track, and therefore it’s a risk betting him in unsuitable conditions.

I much prefer to stick with horses proven at the discipline and for that reason I’m siding with Hoodna.

She’s a lightly raced sprinter who hasn’t achieved much on turf but she is 2/2 on the all-weather; after her win at Kempton, jockey Ahmed Ajtebi said she loved the surface.

On form, she’s got quite a bit to find with her rivals, many of whom are Listed/Group winners but I was impressed by her last win. She showed a decent turn of pace to come from off behind in a moderately run contest; the second and third horses home led most of the way round.

In a strongly run race I think she can be seen to even better effect and with a reasonable draw in stall 7 she looks overpriced at 6/1 (Ladbrokes).
