Lingfield Tips: Embankment
Tricky to win with given his propensity to blow the start but has been finishing his races well.
Embankment is a bit of a sucker’s bet given he continually blows the start and finds it hard to win but he’s fallen to a level where he can be competitive and more importantly we have the price to compensate.
Embankment races in a class 6 handicap for only the third time in his career in the 3.25 Lingfield and his last two starts at a mile have been ok. Yes, he’s blown the start but he’s finished strongly, without being given and overly hard time and his speed ratings are fair for the grade.
Three starts back he finished 4.25 lengths behind Gavarnie Encore in a good time for the grade despite the steady pace. He rather needs the race to fall into his lap but with a big field, he should get the strong gallop he needs.
Michael Attwater’s runners often pop up at big prices, with this ownership already enjoying 20/1, 12/1, 9/1, 8/1 and 9/2 winners in 2016. Embankment could be one to add to that list.
